Free QR code generator that never expires
Make a QR code for a link, your Wi-Fi, a contact card, an email, a phone number, a text message or a map spot. Add your logo in the middle, pick a color and a frame, then download a PNG or an SVG. No account, no watermark, no scan limit.
How to make a QR code
- Pick what it opens. A link, Wi-Fi, a contact card, an email, a call, a text message, words or a map spot.
- Fill in the box. Paste the link or type the details. The code draws itself as you type, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Make it yours. Pick a color, a background and a dot style, then add your logo in the middle and a Scan me frame if you like.
- Test it. Point your phone camera at the preview. The maker also reads the finished code back and shows Scan checked.
- Download. Download a PNG for screens or an SVG for print, or put it on a flyer or a sign with one tap.
Why these codes never expire
Many QR makers give you a dynamic code: the pattern holds a short link on their server, which forwards each scan to your page. That lets them count scans and change where the code goes, and the code works for as long as that short link stays switched on.
A static code made here holds your link itself. Scans go straight to your page, there is nothing to renew, and nothing in between sees who scanned it. To point it somewhere new, you make a new code; to keep one printed code for years, point it at a page you control and update that page.
A QR code with your logo in the middle
Tap Add your logo and pick a file. The code switches to its strongest error correction, level H, which lets a reader rebuild up to 30% of a code, so it still scans with your logo covering the middle. The maker keeps the logo to about a quarter of the code's width and reads the finished code back before you download: Scan checked means a QR reader got exactly what you typed.
PNG or SVG?
The PNG is 2000 pixels wide, ready for a website, a document or a slide. The SVG is made of shapes, so it stays sharp on a business card, a menu or a banner. Pick See-through and both come with a transparent background, so the code sits on any color.
What a QR code can open
| Code | When someone scans it | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Link | Opens the page in the phone's browser | Menus, Google reviews, Google Forms, Instagram, a shared photo album, a PDF in Google Drive |
| Wi-Fi | Offers to join the network, with no typing | Guest Wi-Fi at home, a cafe, a rental, an office |
| Contact | Offers to save your name, number, email and website | Business cards, name tags, a booth |
| Opens a new email to you, subject filled in | Feedback, RSVPs, sign-ups | |
| Call | Offers to call the number | Shop windows, yard signs, lost pet flyers |
| Text message | Opens a text to the number, message ready to send | Text to order, text to join |
| Words | Shows the words on the screen | Instructions, a short note, a door code |
| Map | Opens the place in Google Maps | Venues, yard sales, event parking |
How big to print a QR code
A QR code reads from about ten times its own width. Dark code on a light background, with a clear margin around it, scans best.
| Where | Scanned from | Print it at least |
|---|---|---|
| Business card | 15 to 30 cm (6 to 12 in) | 2 cm (0.8 in) |
| Menu or table tent | 30 to 50 cm (1 to 1.5 ft) | 3 to 5 cm (1.2 to 2 in) |
| Flyer on a wall | 0.5 to 1 m (2 to 3 ft) | 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 in) |
| Poster | about 2 m (6 ft) | 20 cm (8 in) |
| Window or yard sign | about 3 m (10 ft) | 30 cm (12 in) |
Popular QR codes, step by step
- A QR code for Google reviews. In your Google Business Profile, tap Ask for reviews and copy the review link. Paste it under Link, and add a frame that says LEAVE US A REVIEW.
- A QR code for a Google Form. Open the form, tap Send, pick the link icon and copy the link. Paste it under Link.
- A QR code for wedding photos. Make a shared album in Google Photos or iCloud, copy its share link and paste it under Link. A frame that says SHARE YOUR PHOTOS tells guests what it is for.
- A QR code for a PDF. Put the PDF in Google Drive or Dropbox, set sharing to anyone with the link, copy the link and paste it under Link.
- A QR code for Instagram. Paste your profile link, instagram.com/ followed by your name. TikTok, YouTube and Facebook links work the same way.
- A QR code for a menu. Paste the link to the menu page on your site. When the menu changes, update that page and the printed code keeps working.
- A QR code for Wi-Fi. Use the Wi-Fi QR code generator: type the network name and password, and guests join with one scan.
QR codes: FAQ
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign up, no watermark and no limit on scans or downloads. Download a PNG or an SVG as many times as you like.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. Every code made here is a static code: it holds your link or words inside the pattern itself, with no short link in between. It keeps working for as long as the page it points to does.
Do I need to make an account?
No. The generator works right on this page with no account, no email and no sign in.
Can I change where the code goes after I print it?
A static code always opens what it holds, so for a new link you make a new code. To keep one printed code for years, point it at a page you control, like the menu page on your site, and update that page instead.
Does it track my scans?
No. Scans go straight to your link, so nothing in between records who scanned it. To count visits, use your own site's analytics, or add a tag like ?src=flyer to the end of your link.
Can I put my logo in the middle?
Yes. Tap Add your logo and pick a file. The code switches to its strongest error correction, which lets a reader rebuild up to 30% of a code, so it still scans with your logo in the middle. The maker reads it back and shows Scan checked.
Can I download an SVG with a transparent background?
Yes. Pick See-through under Color and style, then tap Download SVG. The SVG is made of shapes, so it prints sharp at any size; the PNG is see-through too.
How do I make a QR code for Wi-Fi?
Tap Wi-Fi, type the network name and the password, and pick the security type. Guests point their phone camera at the code and join, with no typing. The Wi-Fi QR code generator page opens with Wi-Fi ready.
What size should I print a QR code?
At least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide for something held in the hand, like a business card. A code reads from about ten times its own width, so a flyer read from arm's length wants 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 in), and a sign across a room wants more.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The built-in camera reads QR codes on iPhone and on most Android phones: point it at the code and tap the banner that appears.
Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The code is made in your browser. Links, Wi-Fi passwords and contact details stay on your device; nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored.
Can I put the code on a flyer?
Yes. Tap Put it on a flyer or a sign and the free flyer maker opens with your code on the page, ready for a headline, a photo or tear-off tabs, and a print-ready PDF.
Put your code on a flyer
The free flyer maker takes your code with one tap and adds a headline, a photo or tear-off tabs, then downloads a print-ready PDF at Letter or A4 size.
